MUTACTS
(Memory Unit Tactical Air Crew Training System)

FEATURES:

With the easy-to-use system from SAIC, every flight is recoverable as a training event. State-of-the-art graphics display air combat and air to ground scenarios for pilots, mission planners and evaluators. Multiple aircraft are precisely tracked through aerial maneuvers. Significant flight data such as weapons shots, expendable dispensing, or safety violations, can be accurately displayed and analyzed. The system allows debrief to begin within minutes of the sortie landing, and the easy to use interface means that the debrief can be controlled by the flight crew.

Speed of delivery and accuracy of information are doubly vital ingredients in such a scenario. The SAIC system has been designed to provide in-depth, definitive detail from the avionics data stream at the times when the information is most useful. And since the data is not only captured but also archived, it can be used repeatedly for maximum training at minimum cost.

MUTACTS supports post flight debriefing and training for both air-to-air and air-to-air ground weapon simulations. Synchronized displays (3-D and 2-D) of both mission data and aircraft cockpit video (with optional TEAC TIDS Video equipment) are shown over high fidelity digital terrain models.

The system is used by the USN, Swiss, Finnish and Royal Malaysian Air Forces flying F/A-18 Hornets. As delivered, the system works with C/D/E/F model F/A-18 aircraft using Memory Units to record in-flight data.

Built-in communications capability enables internet based synchronized debrief between multiple remote sites

  • F/A-18 Post-flight training review anywhere - no range required
  • Display of multiple maneuvering aircraft and weapons shots
  • State-of-the-art graphics and simulation
  • Can synchronize with and control optional TEAC TIDS video replay equipment

MUTACTS System

MUTACTS (Memory Unit Tactical Air Crew Training System) provides accurate reconstruction of complex F/A-18 training sorties anywhere-without the need for an instrumented range or any additional equipment on the aircraft. This provides tremendous flexibility and allows accurate debriefs to be conducted for all training or operational sorties.

  BENEFITS:
  • Affordable and available
  • No aircraft modifications required
  • All data extracted from existing on-board avionics via the memory unit using the Data Storage Unit Reader (DSUR)
  • Can be used anywhere; no range required
  • Air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons simulations capabilities
  • Up to 30 aircraft
  • Approved for export

OPTIONS:

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for MUTACTS

Note: DSUR is GFE, POC is Tim Woolverton (timothy.woolverton@navy.mil), NAWCAD; delivery can be up to 12 months

Using aircraft mission computer data, a 3-D replay of the missions events can be viewed from a variety of different vantage points, including cockpit, and plan views

Using data from the aircraft LAR equations and recorded
mission data, missile shot envelopes can be displayed and analyzed to determine the validity to weapons shots during the flight. Air to ground releases can also be analyzed

Flight data can be viewed in both text and graphical displays that can be used to examine aircraft performance and safety violations (e.g. hard deck or G limit exceedences)
